Design Brief
Our goal for this assignment was to create a reusable product that promoted sustainability and could potentially be used as a children's toy. I chose to create a product that promoted teaching kids how to grow their own veggies and fruit while also building connections with their families. My goal was to create a product that was fun and engaging for kids, while also making the packaging 100% compostable and reusable.

Research
I looked into finding various ways plants could be grown and how I could potentially hold vegetable seeds inside the packaging that kids could choose from when buying my kit.

Sketches
For my sketches, I tried to think of various ways I could create this reusable packaging that also incorporated my love of gardening while also promoting family and togetherness.

Typography
I wanted to do a typeface that was playful and emphasized the idea of fun which I felt would attract families. The font family was large so I was able to integrate it into several aspects of the packaging.
Color Palette
I decided to do greens with contrasting red to give a farm like feel. I also wanted to do other colors that captured grow, spring time, and what is needed to make plants which is rain and sunshine.

Iconography

For my icons, I decided to use wildflowers on the side of the box because the outer packaging is designed to be torn up and planted to grow wildflowers. I felt that featuring wildflowers would perfectly align with this concept. I also included bees and ladybugs to symbolize their essential role in plant cycles and pollination. To further emphasize growth, I created a sunrise above a meadow, highlighting the sun’s contribution to plant development. Finally, I designed a soil depiction that wraps around the pyramid-shaped box, illustrating how the box is placed in the dirt once the seeds in the kit begin to germinate.
